From idea to reality Based on the findings from a Front End Engineering Design Report from 2005, it is possible to conclude that the technical requirements for a wave energy plant in the Faroe Islands do not pose an obstacle to realizing the project. Likewise, the report shows, how a wave energy plant may be built at Nípan in Vágar as a preferred site and Søltuvík in Sandoy as an alternative site.
A demonstraton plant named Project ALDA has obtained EU grant as well aslocal support and is planned to be in operation from 2011.
